Our Weekend

Thursday night Brian and I went to the Tuahacan Ampitheatre to see their production of Grease.  We were a bit disappointed with it.  It was just okay.  But it is always fun to get out and see a production there.  You can't beat the setting.  The music was nice, but it just seemed to be lacking some zip for lack of a better word.

Dave and Luke were down here this weekend for a baseball tournament in Cedar City.  They stayed here with us.  They had two games Friday and two on Saturday.  They won two and lost two.  They were close games except for one of their wins which they won big.  But the other three games were low scoring games and runs were at a premium.  We enjoyed watching baseball again.  We have lots of good memories watching our other grandkids playing in their various sports.  It is good to know we still have some others coming along.

Luke made some good plays at second base and played well.

Celebrations!

We celebrated Pioneer Day small-town style.  Washington City had a parade this morning that started at 9:00 am and was over by 9:20 am.
We had the best seats on the street.

A different way for royalty to ride.  She had on jeans and a t-shirt.

Many of the entries were from the ward Primary kids.  It was really a parade for the kids.  The part they liked was the people that threw out candy.

After the parade they had games and booths set up in the park.  Here a kid waits to be dunked in the tank.

To round out the festivities, we heard a little country music.

Here we back up to the 3rd of July as the cake is lighted up for Luke's 14th birthday.

I do believe he was able to blow out all candles.

And, last but not least,  you get a view of my one and only purchase online at the Nordstrom anniversary sale.

We enjoyed the little Pioneer Day celebration here.  We thought about going up to Salt Lake to the big Days of '47 Parade on Monday, but decided it might be too big of a hassle.  But I have to say I am pretty proud of where we came from.  As I have read some family histories lately, I feel humbled that we have had many courageous and faithful ancestors.  They were pioneers who sacrificed much for the gospel.  We owe them a debt of gratitude.

HAPPY 4TH

"WHEREFORE, I WILL CONSECRATE THIS LAND UNTO THY SEED. . . FOREVER, FOR

THE LAND OF THEIR INHERITANCE; FOR IT IS A CHOICE LAND. . . ABOVE ALL OTHER

LANDS, WHEREFORE I WILL HAVE ALL MEN THAT DWELL THEREON THAT THEY

SHALL WORSHIP ME, SAITH GOD."  (2 Nephi 10; 19)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!
